The Crazy Gang, Gasbags (1942)

I admit it–I love the British comic actors, comedians, and film comedies from the 1930s and 1940s. But who else today remembers Tommy Handley, Arthur Askey, Will Hay, George Formby, Frank Randle, Ronald Frankau, Richard ‘Stinker’ Murdoch, Max Miller, Stanley Holloway, Leslie Sarony, the Crazy Gang, or the ineffably surreal Wilson, Keppel & Betty? (and have I forgotten anyone? other than the pantheon of the somewhat later Ealing comedies of the early 1950s, of course, but those I hold back for another day …)

Today I want to share with you a comedy from the Crazy Gang–Bud Flanagan, Chesney Allen, Jimmy Nervo, Teddy Knox, Charlie Naughton and Jimmy Gold–in this case, a Second World War film from 1942.  Stick the popcorn in the microwave, grab yourself a drink from the fridge, and sit back and enjoy!
